The Elementals – Sansul by Natasha Quaresma

I won the book The Elementals – Sansul by Natasha Quaresma via a giveaway on the Goodreads website.
The Elementals – Sansul is a throughly enjoyable witch, warlocks and vampire romp. There is a enough blood and gore to keep the average guy entertained and enough romantic elements to enthral female readers. It is a well paced novel that keeps you wanting to read more. It is very much of the Zeitgeist and I’m sure it will appeal to a wide range of avid readers. It ends on a cliff hanger, so I’m sure there is another one int e pipeline.

Truth or Lies for Xbox 360

I won this the other day on a competition on Twitter via @OrderAGame . I don’t own a Xbox 360 so it is going into my donation box for the Stray Aid charity shop in Easington Colliery. Someone will get the pleasure of buying the game for a discounted price and Stray Aid will get much needed money. Thats a win win win situation.

Sick Puppy

Barley our Lurcher has had an upset tummy, on and off for the past week.
We have tried several things to help Barley back to his usual good health, but by this morning it was obvious it wasn’t going to clear up by itself, so we took him to the vets (Value Vets, 31 Church St, Seaham, County Durham SR7 7HQ Phone: 0191 581 3475 ).
After the vet examined Barley we left the surgery with a 6 day course of antibiotics, and rehydration sachet for him, and now he is on a very plain diet for the next week.
He is also going to continue wearing a muzzle during his walks, because he in very enthusiastic about scavenging and eating anything and everything that takes his fancy.
Poor critter, but at least he does not appear to feel unwell, thankfully he still has a healthy appetite and is full of energy.

The Rich, the Poor & the Foolish by Paul Liburd

I won the book The Rich, the Poor & the Foolish by Paul Liburd via a giveaway on the Goodreads website.
This is a interesting little book from Paul Liburd and while I do not agree with all the arguments used for being ‘Rich’, it does make some very valid points for the ‘Foolish’ and ‘Poor’. It would make a good little read for those starting out in life and thinking about being self employed/entrepreneurial. If you are older and already fall into ‘Foolish’ and ‘Poor’, then you will need a lot more then this book to kick start you on the way to a better life.
P.S. If Paul Liburd reads this little review, I hope he likes the fact I’ve taken a book given to me for free and turned it in a possible way to make money by including and Amazon advert for the book in the review.

Seed Sensation

On Monday I ordered some seeds from The Organic Gardening Catalogue.
Today I decided to get seeding. Some seeds went into seed propagators that live in the spare bedroom, and others I sowed directly in to pots outside. Here are the seeds I ordered:
1 x BORAGE
1 x BURNET
1 x CHAMOMILE Matricaria
1 x CHERVIL
1 x CLARY
1 x CUMIN
1 x DOG ROSE
1 x FEVERFEW
1 x GARLIC CHIVES
1 x GOOD KING HENRY
1 x HYSSOP
1 x POT MARJORAM
1 x PURSLANE Golden
1 x SAGE
1 x SALSIFY Mammoth
1 x SAVORY Summer
1 x SORREL Broad leaved
1 x TARRAGON
1 x WELSH ONION

The backyard is now starting to look like the kitchen garden that I intend it to be. There are still a good number of plants to pot. I have 16 different plants in the propagators and will use at least a couple of each. I also have a dozen small pots ‘Cold Acclimatizing’ in the kitchen.
It will soon be time to pay another visit to Richardsons Garden Centre, and purchase a lot more big plant pots, and compost.
I’m hoping my fingers are green.
