Yangon Rangoon, Myanmar Burma

A few photos and videos from our visit to Yangon Rangoon, Myanmar Burma in March 2012. We only spent a few days in Yangon Rangoon but it was the most interesting country that we visited in Asia. It was like stepping back in time. All of the vehicles on the road where at least 20 years old. The city itself was in a state of decay. Part of it in noble decay. Many a fine old colonial building seemed to be on one monsoon away from collapse.

New Romney, Kent

New Romney was our local town during our stay on the Kent toast. It was about a 20 minute walk from Marlie Farm Caravan Park in Romney Warren where we were staying. Some days we decided to have a rest from driving so New Romney was a good excuse for a walk, a little shopping, and a beer or two.

There are 3 pubs in New Romney, the only one of note was the Cinque Port Arms. The other two (Ship Hotel and New Inn) were nothing special, and did not offer any interesting beers. The  Cinque Port Arms and the Ship hotel both have outside seating areas, the best and most attractive of the two being the garden in the Cinque Port Arms. There are lots are flowering plants, ample seating, and it’s peaceful.

There are a couple of banks (with ATM machines), a Post Office, a medium sized Sainsbury’s supermarket, and even a small delicatessen (Spice of Life, 26 High St, Town Centre, New Romney TN28 8BY. Phone:01797 362430). We popped in to the Spice of Life where we could happily have purchased lots of things if only we hadn’t done a large shop the day before. We didn’t want to leave empty handed though, so we bought some very tasty green olives stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes, and some popping corn. I know popcorn isn’t your typical deli buy, but we like it, it makes an enjoyable healthy snack.

Taisun Lychee Jelly Drink

My wife is very keen on Jelly drinks after we spent a lot of time in the Far East, so I picked up a can of Taisun Lychee Jelly Drink in a Oriental supermarket in Croydon (Wing Yip Croydon, 544 Purley Way, Croydon, CR0 4NZ).
I’m now working on a secret recipe for a Jelly Beer, given that my wife is also very keen on an ale or 4.

TGI Friday Croydon

We visited the TGI Friday in Croydon with my parents. This was mainly because of parking and wheelchair access. The service was very good but the food was a bit of a let done. I ordered a rare steak but it arrived well done. In fact every thing on my plate was overcooked. My mother reported that her burger was very dry.
I will not be rushing back to a TGI Friday anytime soon.

JK Rowling = Robert Galbraith

Poor old JK Rowling, well really super rich JK Rowling was outed on twitter. She wrote The Cuckoo’s Calling’s under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith and seemed happy to remain out of the limelight for The Cuckoo’s Calling’s and to let the novel talk for itself and more importantly sell itself.
All was going well until Judith (Jude) Callegari tweeted that is was JK Rowling who had written The Cuckoo’s Calling’s. Judith (Jude) Callegari had been told the secret by Chris Gossage, the husband of her best friend.
Needless to say the novel went from obscure to a bestseller overnight.
With this in mind I have an evil plan. I’m going to pen a novel and self publish it on Amazon (Kindle) and then I’m going to spread a rumour over social media (Twitter, Facebook, Goggle+ etc.) that it was really written by John Grisham.
